Not much could make a picture perfect day like July 25 any better. The sun was out, blue skies abounded, and the temperature never peaked above 80 degrees. But one quick glimpse of 15 Francis Street revealed that, in fact, BWH had found a way to sweeten this summer day. Add the aroma of freshly cooked cuisine from around the world and the cool tunes of jazz and reggae bands, and perhaps the formula for success was complete. Hundreds of BWHers agreed.
The 13th annual Street Beat could not have fallen on a more pristine day, but chances are that under different weather patterns, the crowd of staff, employees and neighbors still would have found several ways to have fun. This year's Street Beat included a host of craft vendors, including a portrait artist, painters and sculptors. (Cont. on p.3) A Picture Perfect Day That Could Not Be "Beat" (Cont. from p.1) While some employees shopped, others soaked in the sun, danced to the tunes of live performers and sampled the dishes of a variety of ethnic caterers. If the sounds and savory smells were not enough to draw the crowds, a balloon figure danced across the Brigham landscape, inviting more to come join the festivities.
"It was a wonderful day to celebrate and bring to life the diversity and spirit of our organization," said Jacqueline Ashby, coordinator of this year's event.
